Longhill CCF Captain Wins Brighton Argus Youth Leader of the Year Award!

Posted in: News Archive

Longhill High School and, in particular, the Longhill contingent of the Combined Cadet Force were extremely proud of their Captain, Ali Pringle, who won Youth Leader of the Year at the recent Argus Youth In Action Awards ceremony.

Ali Pringle has worked as a cover supervisor at Longhill High for some 14 years and is popular and well-respected amongst staff and students alike.  For the past 10 years he has also led the CCF contingent who have become well-known locally for their magnificent fund-raising efforts; they raised over £4,200 for the Poppy Appeal last year – amazing!  Captain Pringle also takes CCF cadets on regular visits to the blind veterans in Ovingdean, the most recent of which was as part of Armed Forces Day.

Captain Pringle and the cadets are currently away at CCF central camp, with cadets from all over the country, where they have been enjoying lots of exciting activities including: obstacle courses, archery, paintball, laser quest, water sports, orienteering, skill @ arms, mountain biking and survival techniques to mention but a few!

It sounds like a very exciting and challenging week and Captain Pringle and the contingent are always happy to welcome new cadets who would like to try something new and different.  Please see our School Information/School Clubs section on the website for further information on the CCF.

Ali Pringle is an outstanding role model for students and staff alike; he is always willing to help out, as shown recently during Enrichment Week when he attended our Year 8 Camp at Blackland Farm.  He also showed that he and his contingent ‘scrub up well’ as he enjoyed an evening at Pangdean Barn at the Year 11 Prom.

All in all, we are very proud of Ali Pringle and congratulate him on his well-deserved Youth Leader of the Year Award!
