Sunshine and Fun Makes for a Great Sports Day!

Posted in: News Archive

Mr Fallick, Head of PE was delighted to give us a report on last week’s Sports Day, which was enjoyed by the whole school community.  Huge thanks to the PE Department for putting on such a fabulous day!

“On Wednesday the 5th of July the sun was shining down on us as the whole of Longhill High School took part in Sports Day in a sea of House colours!

The day was split into two sections, with students taking part in a variety of team games: rounders, benchball, handball, longball, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, dodgeball and volleyball in the morning and we were all treated to the sprint competitions in the afternoon.

The energy and enthusiasm which was shown throughout the day was amazing, with everyone fully embracing the spirit of the day and cheering all competitors from all Houses. However, it was extremely competitive both in the team sports and sprints on the field – no more so than in the last race of the day, the staff sprint!

There were so many outstanding performances throughout the day with a few records broken in the afternoon. Seeing all the students and staff engaging in Sports Day was an amazing sight and one we will look to make even better next year.

The results are still being processed and all will be relived during the Golden Ticket Assembly; all I can say is that it’s looking very very close!

A huge ‘well done’ to everyone involved in the day and also to the staff for their support in making the day run so smoothly!”
