At Longhill we like to promote diversity and introduce French and Spanish to new students entering in Year 7. When then reach Year 9, they can choose if they would like to continue their studies at GCSE level.

On the 25th of September 2023, two of our Year 7 classes were learning how to write, and say their other subjects in Spanish and French respectively. The French class played bingo, while the Spanish class played snakes and ladders. They also learnt how to describe their lessons, if it was too difficult, great or boring.

The study of foreign languages enhances listening skills and memory, increases analytical abilities, and builds aptitude in problem solving and working with abstract concepts. It has been shown to enhance the study of other subjects. Abilities in math and English increase, and creativity grows.
