Last week our Year 11 Students sat their Art GCSE Mock Exams, where they showed off some great work using a variety of different styles and materials.

The test involves researching artists and investigating their work. Students will then develop ideas through these investigations, demonstrating critical understanding of sources, as contextualising work is a key element of the creative process.

Students are then encouraged to experiment and refine their work through the exploration of different materials and processes. Recording observations, ideas and insights is a key skill to all further studies and and careers in Visual Arts and Design. Finally Students are asked to present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and demonstrates understanding of visual language.

The options during their exam were

  • Objects
  • The Senses
  • Layers
  • Flight
  • Our World

Artists that they were recommend include, Jo Barrett, Chema Madoz, Jusepe de Ribera, Veronica Ryan, Rembrandt, Roy Litchtenstein, Lenardo da Vinci, Nicola Godden, Simon Starling, Diane Burko to name a few.
