Careers Fair – 2023
At Longhill High School we try to link careers and higher education with our teaching, as much as possible. By having a resident career advisor on site to frequent visits to Brighton & Sussex University, we encourage our students to think about their next steps.
On 13th July 2023 we are hosting a Careers Fair in our Main Hall, with a host of independent training providers, sixth-form colleges and further educational institutions.
The Sixth-form and FE Colleges attending are:
- East Sussex College: Lewes
- BACA
- Plumpton
- GBMET
- DV8 Brighton
- MPCT (military prep college)
Independent Training Providers attending are:
- Lagoon Watersports
- Sutton & District Training
- Skills Training UK
- Steve Willis Training
- Supajam
Other attendees include:
- University of Brighton
- Army Careers
- Careers Advisor (Mr Jackson) – with apprenticeship support and knowledge
During mentor time, students will be asked to prepare questions for the exhibitors, to help them have meaningful engagements. During the fair, students will get a card stamped if they ask good questions and if students get enough stamps, they will be put into a prize draw. The incentive here is to gamify the experience and get students to appropriately utilise their time.
Careers in the following sectors will be focused on; Construction, Healthcare, Public Services, Education, Third Sector, Creative & Arts, Sport & Leisure, Travel & Hospitality, Digital & Technology, Business and Finance.
