On Thursday 22nd May, our Year 10 students had the incredible opportunity to engage with Richard Francis, a seasoned Electronics Engineer and a Longhill High School Alumni. Now the Principal Hardware Engineer at a major company in Crawley, Richard returned to share his journey and insights into the dynamic world of engineering.

During the session, he outlined the various pathways into engineering, giving students a valuable glimpse into career possibilities they may not have previously considered. From discussing the skills required to thrive in the industry to showcasing fascinating examples of his electronic engineering work, Richard offered an eye-opening perspective on a field that remains unfamiliar to many young learners.

This encounter was an inspiring moment for our students, offering them both real-world insights and motivation to explore the exciting possibilities of STEM careers. Who knows? Perhaps one day, one of these students will follow in Richard’s footsteps and return to Longhill High School as a future industry leader!
