Albion in the Community – Social Enterprise Challenge
On Wednesday 19 th October 2022 a group of Y7 & Y8 students had the opportunity to take part in the Social
Enterprise Challenge at the AMEX along with another handful of schools from the local area.
The theme of the challenge is the protection of the planet, with teams developing a social action project that helps
address environmental sustainability at either Brighton & Hove Albion FC, or here at school. A key component of the
challenge is to help young people develop key soft skills, which have also been identified as key employability skills
for the future, such as speaking, listening, creativity and problem solving.
The programme was led and delivered by Albion in the Community Schools department, however, to further support
the young people, the programme was also supported by staff from across AITC, the Football Club, as well as
volunteer support by American Express.
As an added treat the students were given a behind the scenes tour of the AMEX Stadium.
The project will continue at school, to develop the ideas that our students came up with during their time at the
AMEX.
A good time was had by all involved, a big thank you to the AITC team and the American Express Mentors for
supporting our students in the project.
