Future-Proof Careers in Landscape Architecture

Last Thursday, a group of 14 Year 9 students participated in an excellent educational visit to the Landscape Institute for a “Green and Creative Careers” workshop. This trip offered valuable, early exposure to Landscape Architecture, a fast-growing, essential field that provides stable, creative, and environmentally conscious career paths for the future.

The session was specifically designed to illustrate how students can translate their creativity and problem-solving skills into tangible professional opportunities. They saw how the discipline uniquely blends environmental science, urban planning, and design, which is crucial for tackling modern challenges like climate change and urbanization. This exposure helps reinforce the broad, interdisciplinary relevance of their current school subjects.

Through interactive design tasks, students focused on the critical balance of planning for people (community and well-being), place (site context and heritage), and nature (sustainability and biodiversity). The attitude and work ethos from all the students was exemplary and we look forward to participating in future workshops.
