Year 8 Faraday Challenge Trip 2026

As part of our ongoing STEM partnership with other Brighton and Hove schools, 3 teams of year 8 students recently took part in the Faraday Challenge at BACA.

The challenge was to build a prototype rocket transport vehicle that bottle rockets were eventually launched from. Our students had to rely on a number of skills, including design, engineering, budgeting, teamwork and problem solving. All of their vehicles were built from scratch with no adult help!

The students took to the task with admirable enthusiasm and showed great resilience and determination when things didn’t go as planned. The highlight of the day was each team presenting their project to over 60 of their peers from other schools, before launching their model rockets from their vehicles, which reached over 10m in the air!

We are incredibly proud of how well our students performed in this challenge, and grateful to BACA for hosting such an engaging event.
