Year 7 Visit to the University of Brighton’s Moulsecoomb Campus
As part of Longhill High School’s ongoing partnership with Uni Connect, a group of enthusiastic Year 7 students recently enjoyed an inspiring and engaging trip to the University of Brighton’s Moulsecoomb Campus. This opportunity was designed to introduce students to university life and give them a taste of what higher education has to offer.

The day began with a warm welcome from the University of Brighton’s outreach team, followed by an informative and interactive campus tour. Students were shown around key areas of the campus, including lecture theatres, practical laboratories, and student social spaces. Students were prompted to seek out information by taking part in a friendly quiz competition during the tour. During the tour, one group of students crossed paths with the principal of the University of Brighton, who was kind enough to treat them all to a pastry!

The highlight of the day was a LEGO architecture workshop where students designed and then built models of their ideal university campus. Staff from Longhill and the university were both blown away by the students’ creativity and teamwork. The students then presented their designs to a respectful audience of their peers.

The trip formed part of our collaboration with Uni Connect, a national programme that aims to support young people in exploring their options for higher education. A big thank you goes to the University of Brighton for hosting such a well-organised and welcoming day, and to the Uni Connect team for making it possible.
