Punctuality

School starts at 8:15 am sharp with morning registration/mentor time.  Please always allow plenty for time for arriving at school on time. More information about the schools approach towards punctuality can be found here.

Travelling by Car

Parents and students are encouraged to organise car shares whenever possible to minimise surrounding road traffic and pollution.

Travelling by Bus

Brighton & Hove buses run regular bus routes to Longhill High School from the neighbouring area. We ask Year 7 students to sit downstairs on double-decker buses and have bus monitors who will keep an eye out and report issues to the school. We also escort Year 7 students to the buses for the first few weeks until they feel confident. Below are links to bus timetables on the Brighton & Hove Bus website:

2- Shoreham/Woodingdean

22A – Elm Grove

52 – Marina & Olde Steine

72 – Whitehawk

76 – Saltdean

76A – Peacehaven

Travelling by Bike

If your child cycles to school, make sure their bike is in good working order, and that they wear a helmet and reflective jacket. It is also advisable to work out the best route, with the least traffic.

Free cycling training is provided by Brighton & Hove City Council, with courses running frequently during the school holiday. Visit the Brighton and Hove website for more information

Bad Weather

From time to time, the weather may be bad enough to prevent staff and students travelling safely to and from the school, or to compromise their safety whilst on site.

In periods of severe weather, the decision to close or open the school is taken early in the day. We aim to publish information should the school close by 6:30am on the day of a closure. In exceptional circumstances we may make an announcement the afternoon or evening prior to a closure.

The document below outlines the procedure for bad weather:
